The plat-eye is a legendary creature among the gullah people, a distinctive group of Black Americans from South Carolina and Georgia in the southeastern United States.  They live in small farming and fishing communities along the Atlantic coast and on the chain of Sea Islands which runs parallel to the coast.
	The plat-eye are mischievous ghosts who roam the earth changing shape and identity for deadly, self-serving purposes. The plateye's generally always an animal creature and can change form right in front of you.   The "plat-eye prowl" is the time between twilight and dawn.  It is rumored plateyes can't stand the smell of gun powder and sulphur mix.
